John Hickenlooper gave a wide-ranging State of the State address Thursday, calling on lawmakers to implement background checks on all gun sales, pass legislation allowing civil unions for same-sex couples, and pass oil and gas regulations that are “fair, rational, and based on science,” among other topics.
